To
the ABQRacing.com website, where you'll find a
great deal of information about the drivers and
tracks that make New Mexico one of the most
exciting destinations for racing. I'm Curtis
Berry and I'll be your host as you trek through
a site that began as a hobby and has become a
passion.
If
you have any information to add to this site,
such as driver bios/pics and information you
feel that others within the racing community
would be interested in, then please feel free to
email me with whatever you have.
I
look forward to hearing from you!

Excuse Me!
Most of these bio pages need driver information. Send me a
message with info about yourself or a driver you know so friends, family,
fans, and SPONSORS can check them out! I'm also going to
begin announcing birthdays. So if you know a driver's
birthday and I don't already have it in their profile, send
it over.

May
5, 2009 -- Rain Rain go away ... please come back some
other day. Yeah Saturday came with a pit-load of hopeful
drivers and a skyful of ominous clouds. It spit and
spattered and then rained hard until the race was called
about 5pm. Luckily enough it was rescheduled for the next
day.
The weather on
Sunday was pleasant. The racing was good and except for the
track drying out into a small dust bowl, it was a great day.
A-Main winners for each division were:
Late Models:
Lonnie Parker, Jr.
Modifieds:
Stormy Scott
Mini Sprints:
Mike Brewer
Hobby Stocks:
Jon Paques
I did much
better this week. I started dead last in the heat and that's
where I finished, but I FINISHED! In the main, I began in
the back of a field of 24. I did well enough to finish
13th!!! Two complete races and a top 100 finish. Hot damn
I'm smelling championship!! Well, not really. Anyway, the
next race for the hobbies will be May 16 when I turn 43.
Where's my walker? Butch? Can I borrow yours?

April
19, 2009 -- The Berry racing season started off with a
whimper rather than a bang. My first time on a track in 23
years was for 6 hot laps and it well pretty well. I kept it
on the track.
For the heat
race I elected to start in the back until I got the hang of
the car. On the second lap going into turn 3, my accelerator
got stuck wide open. I managed to tap the pedal and get it
loose while just barely keeping from spinning. But then
going into turn 1 it did it again and I couldn't get it to
unstick. With the engine redlining, I had to kill it to
avoid blowing it. In the infield I unbuckled my harness and
fiddled with the pedal until it unstuck. But it was too
late and I had to sit there and wait until the race was
over. In the pits, I shortened the accelerator spring,
hoping it would keep the linkage from getting bound up
again.
With the main
approaching, I had high hopes. I got into the car and
strapped in found I could not get it out of first gear. The
linkage was stuck! What is it with linkages? Oh well, all
that for nothing. But I'll get it fixed for next time.
A special thank
you to Art and Mary Hurley, and Gary Smith for their help in
the pits!
April 14,
2009 -- Well the April 11 practice at HH was rained out,
but there will be practice April 17 6pm to 9pm at HH for
those who want to get their cars set up. I'll try to be
there.
There will be a
meeting for the Albuquerque Hobby Stock Association at the
Twisters on Isleta Wednesday, April 15 from 6-8pm so get
there to get registered!
